Current Status And Development Trend Of Laser Fine Processing Technology

Hosted by OFweek China High-Tech Industry Portal, undertaken by OFweek Laser Network, “OFweek 2018 14th China Advanced Laser Technology Application Summit and ‘Vico Cup’ Laser Industry Annual Awards Presentation Ceremony” was successfully held on September 18th in Shanghai Hongqiao Howard Johnson Hotel. The summit gathered a number of industry authoritative experts and first-line enterprise representatives to conduct in-depth discussions on the current development status and future trends of the laser industry. In the same period, the laser industry annual awards ceremony was held to promote the healthy development of the laser industry.

Zhang Wei, deputy director of the Shanghai Laser Technology Research Institute, attended the summit and gave a keynote speech on 'The Status and Development Trend of Laser Fine Processing Technology'. In recent years, with the rising demand in the consumer electronics market, the requirements for the accuracy of optical electronic devices have become higher and higher, and laser fine processing technology has received much attention.

At present, domestic fine processing is still in its infancy, and there are two main problems: First, the light source, that is, the stability and reliability of the picosecond and femtosecond laser source, domestic light source products can really meet the needs of system integration is still relatively less. The second is the processing technology, including the structure-oriented processing technology, which directly determines the overall structure of the equipment, and has a great impact on downstream processing.

Zhang Wei said that under the strong driving of market demand, advanced laser technology continues to accelerate industrial applications. 2017 is the peak year for the laser market, with a total market value of approximately $12.5 billion, of which industrial lasers total revenues exceed $3.4 billion. At present, China has become the world's largest market for laser processing systems, accounting for more than 30% of the total, and still maintains a high growth rate. In the industrial laser system, the localization process has been accelerating and the export ratio has continued to increase.

In order to strengthen industrial development, it is necessary to integrate resources and improve the overall structure of the upstream and downstream of the entire industry. In particular, we must work hard on upstream materials, devices and manufacturing processes to get rid of dependence on foreign manufacturers.
